Rochelle Park, NJ – November 4, 2013 – Essextec is preparing to close a major year during which the company was the subject of much adulation. Representatives of Essextec were chosen to address the Pennsylvania Credit Union Association (PCUA) on the topic of IT Security Analysis, and to meet with Senator Tom Carper, the Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee Chairman, about cyber security.
Business Risk Analyst Joseph Kelly was invited to address the PCUA in response to increased frequency of cyber-terror attacks on depository institutions. Distributed denial-of-service attacks, causing Internet-based service outages by overloading network bandwidth and system resources, were of primary concern. Kelly, a professional with plenty of experience as a team leader in the medical, public accounting, finance, and military industries, presented “IT Security Analysis: Cyber Security and Social Engineering” to the PCUA team, adding this illustrious engagement to his already impressive resume. Kelly has also been a team leader for a CPA firm, has CISA, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA HIT, ITIL certifications, and a DOD secret security clearance. His white paper, “Electronic Prescriptions and Information Risks: Understanding Risks of Exposure as Use of e-Prescriptions Increases” has been used as a resource by many in the medical community.
Earlier in the year, senior executive Michael DaGrossa and Essextec’s Delaware risk team met with Senator Carper for a discussion focused on trends in the marketplace. They specifically addressed trends in critical infrastructure and in the education of organizations about their responsibilities to enforce and place controls and to develop repercussions for non-compliance. The team shared examples of vulnerability assessments, uncovering unknown areas of weakness and shining a light on the critical nature of risk and security in the private sector.
The recognition of Essextec as a reputable resource for both the public and private sectors has been a cause for celebration at Essextec. Essextec is headquartered at 201 W. Passaic Street in Rochelle Park, NJ. For more information, visit www.essextec.com, email exceed@essextec.com, or call 888-519-1518.
