Interview in Medford

Medford oregon dentist

For 27 years, Michael R. Boldt, DMD has provided dental service to the Medford, OR community. We sat down with him to discuss his practice, Boldt Dental, and the challenges of owning a business.

Your practice has already been around for 27 years! What was your goal when you got started

I got started in 1986 with the mission to be committed to providing excellent care, appropriate for our patients’ circumstances, in an atmosphere of sincere compassion, honesty, integrity, and humor.

What business plan did you enact in order to meet those goals?

I have always treated patients as I would want to be treated, and it seems to be working well.

What inspired you to start your own practice instead of joining another one?

I enjoy helping people. I like determining what is happening and why, as well as doing the right treatment to help solve problems — it’s very enjoyable.

It’s so great that you enjoy your work. Is there any one area of dentistry you enjoy more than others?

I’ve found that patients like to have treatment done in one place, so I have been fortunate that I enjoy all aspects of dentistry.

That certainly is fortunate! How did you manage to attain expert status in all areas of dentistry?

Graduating from dental school at OHSU School of Dentistry was really just the beginning. I have taken advanced training courses all over the country, including the LD Pankey Institute, Orognathic Bioesthetics International, and most recently I have achieved “mentor” status at the Kois Center in Seattle, WA.

That’s very impressive! What’s the most rewarding thing that’s come out of all that work?

Having happy and successful staff, and being able to pay the bills and have a secure future.

Boldt Dental is located at 922 East Main Street in Medford, OR. Learn more about the practice online at or call 541-772-2756.

As James Connor discussed his business with us, we learned about his motivations for starting his own company, his vast experience in the cell phone business and how he has never felt the urge to give up, despite the difficulties that have come up along the way.

Let’s start from the beginning. What made you want to start your own business?

James Connor: I like the idea of being in control of my own destiny. To be in charge of my own opportunities and to have flexibility and not be tied down in a particular spot or place.

How would you describe My Broken Phone to a new customer?

James Connor: My Broken Phone does primarily cell phone repair services, but we are also a retail and service environment. We buy and sell phones and sell accessories.

How did you end up finding your niche?

James Connor: I had been in the cell phone accessory business since ’99 and was a bit frustrated with the overhead in the mall, and frustrated with the quality and accessibility of cell phone repair services. Everyone has a cell phone, and I saw a need in the marketplace for these services. Opened my first location and then it sprang boarded from there!

What can you tell us about your own background, education and work history?

James Connor: While I was a loyal and dedicated employee for one company for 15-plus years, I have always been looking for that perfect opportunity to empower myself. I have taken business classes in the past however have gained most of my knowledge through life experiences. I have always been interested in technology, which makes this business a perfect fit.

Can you tell us what steps you took to acquire the skills needed to run a company like My Broken Phone?

James Connor: Worked mostly in the cell phone accessory side, and then was a natural fit moving into the repair side of things. I looked for the best techs in the area and developed my own methods and repair techniques.

Over the past year, have any unexpected obstacles crept up along the way?

James Connor: Our biggest obstacle has probably been breaking the customers’ phones while trying to fix them. All phones are difficult to repair in the beginning, but once you do a few they become easier to fix.

Do you have a set business plan?

James Connor: No, no business plan. I originally started as an accessories boutique and selling unlocked phones, but then began to progress into mostly repairs and as well as buying, selling and trading phones.

Lastly, everyone knows that starting a business can be trying. Has there ever been a time that you thought about throwing it in?

James Connor: No. I never wanted to give up and am excited to watch My Broken Phone grow and succeed.

Based out of Riverview, Florida, My Broken Phone stands ready to handle every potential need that a customer could have, from buying and selling cell phones to repairs of all kinds.

Subtleties of a Good Press Release

Apple press release live

The whole point of a press release is to promote something. Everyone knows that when they read a release, they are going to find out about a new service, a new product, or a special event that that particular company is offering. Press releases are almost as old as newspapers themselves. But that doesn’t mean they can’t be well-written.

The “pyramid” style of organization can be especially effective when writing a release. This means that the most important information is placed right at the beginning of the article, with progressively less important info provided in subsequent paragraphs. This originally made it much easier for editors to trim a piece if space required it (they just started cutting from the end, knowing the key points were handled in the first ‘graph), but it also serves as

New Albany, IN — October 6, 2013 — New Albany Implants is pleased to announce that it plans to add a new employee to the New Albany office, enabling Dr. Ronald Receveur, DDS, to have a personally trained lab technician on hand at all times. This will help to ensure that patients can enjoy higher quality results, as well as a faster overall turnaround time for lab work.

Enhanced Benefits for Everyone

By hiring a professionally trained lab technician, Dr. Ronald Receveur and New Albany Implants will increase efficiency and quality all at once. When a doctor and lab technician work side by side, they are able to discuss and agree upon what will look best in a patient’s mouth, resulting in optimum final aesthetic results.

More Options Available in Office

Hiring a personally trained lab technician is not the only thing that New Albany Implants looks forward to. The New Albany, Indiana dental office is pleased to be setting up a brand new surgical suite so that it can meet every patient need in one single location. This will not only further enhance patient care, but also make it possible for patients to receive all elements of care in one convenient location. Those who previously had to see two or more dentists for a problem can now have all of the necessary work done in one place.

“With our own surgical suite and laboratory right here on-site, we will offer unparalleled convenience, safety and service to our patients,” explains Dr. Ronald Receveur, DDS. “There are very few dental offices around the country that can offer the wide comprehensive array of services that we will be able to.”

Coming Soon

New Albany Implants expects the new surgical suite and new employee to be ready to go by November. At that time, patients will be able to enjoy an entirely new level of comfort and expediency, whether they are in need of dental implants, IV sedation dentistry, cosmetic work or routine cleaning and dental care.
